Pharmaceuticals company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) paid the largest penalty in health care fraud history in 2012. Of a total of US$2.99 billion, US$956 million was a criminal fine, and US$2 billion resolved False Claims Act claims to the federal government and several states.
