19. Facebook 2019 – FTC ($5,000 million)
On 24 July 2019, the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) slapped Facebook with a $5 billion fine for misleading users over the privacy of their personal information on the platform in the wake of the Cambridge Analytics scandal, which saw the UK-based political consulting company improperly harvest data from Facebook users for political advertising purposes.
