Citigroup was one of the five US financial institutions to settle with the US DOJ, Department of Housing and Urban Development, state banking regulators and 49 state attorneys general in February 2012 as part of a US$25 billion landmark agreement to address allegations of widespread mortgage loan servicing and foreclosure abuses.
