Williams & Connolly
Founded in 1967 by Edward Bennett Williams, perhaps the most prominent Washington defense lawyer of his day, Williams & Connolly has a strong FCPA practice in Washington. Sixteen partners work on foreign bribery issues with companies and individuals in a wide variety of industries, including aerospace and defence, financial services, media, technology and telecommunications.
David Zinn and Joe Petrosinelli are co-chairs of the firm’s criminal defence and investigations practice.
The firm’s experience includes the representation of both domestic and foreign companies in the evaluation, investigation and defence of FCPA issues arising from client activities all over the world. Approximately one-third of the firm’s recent FCPA work has been conducted for foreign companies or individuals.
Williams & Connolly served as lead counsel for News Corp, which spun off its newspaper properties in 2012 amid a scandal in Britain surrounding alleged payments for news. A related four-year Department of Justice foreign bribery investigation was closed in January 2015 without charges.
