DLA Piper

DLA Piper is among the largest of the “Big Law” firms. With more than 80 offices in 34 countries, the firm attracts attention for its size and scope. It means the DC office makes up just a small part of the firm’s FCPA and – more broadly, foreign bribery – practice.

Until recently, the firm’s white-collar practice was headed by Tara Lee, who investigates business crimes in what she called “extreme environments” such as Somalia, Mongolia and Afghanistan, before she left for Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan.

But the firm has kept other highly regarded partners in its DC practice. Among them is Laura Flippin, who is UK pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline’s main outside counsel managing foreign bribery investigations in China and across the world, as Just Anti-Corruption has reported.

Other standout lawyers in the DC office include Jonathan Haray and Deborah Meshulam.

DLA Piper also boasts Who’s Who Legal lawyer Earl Silbert, a DC legend who prosecuted figures in the Watergate scandal when he served as the US attorney for the District of Columbia in the 1970s.
