Cozen O’Connor is a mid-sized firm boasting several experienced FCPA lawyers, including recent addition Barbara ‘Biz’ Van Gelder. Van Gelder left Dickstein Shapiro for Cozen in February 2016, joining as senior counsel working on white-collar defence, internal and congressional investigations.
Barry Boss, co-chair of the criminal defence and internal investigations practice and a former Washington, DC, federal public defender, is also highly regarded.
The partners mainly represent individuals and small to medium-sized companies on FCPA investigations by the Justice Department and Securities and Exchange Commission.
The FCPA practice is growing at the firm. Former DOJ fraud section prosecutor Nicole Sprinzen joined the firm in January 2016 from Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld. With three associates supporting the partners, the firm is looking to bring on more lawyers with an SEC enforcement background to round out the practice.
The three partners primarily work with pharmaceutical companies, defence contractors and the manufacturing industry.
