Prediction for BNP Paribas fine climbs to US$10 billion
A leading US newspaper has predicted French bank BNP Paribas will be fined more than US$10 billion over charges that it violated US sanctions. According to The Wall Street Journal, the fine will be the second-largest ever imposed on a company behind JP Morgan's US$13 billion penalty last year, which was for misleading investors over mortgage securities, and is much more than BNP Paribas has set aside.
