House bill would allow SEC defendants to opt out of in-house proceedings
Rep. Scott Garrett (R-N.J.), the chairman of the House Financial Services subcommittee on capital markets, said that defendants accused of violating securities law should have the option to be tried by a federal judge or jury instead of by the SEC.
