Former Guinean mining minister comes to fore in Rio Tinto discovery battle

Rio Tinto accuses former Guinea Minister of Mining Mahmoud Thiam of taking bribes to transfer the company’s rights to mine a section of the iron-rich Simandou region to its Brazilian rival Vale SA. Now, Rio Tinto has detailed new allegations against Thiam as it seeks further discovery against the former Guinean official.
