Brazilian Fraud by UK Airport Security Company?
In light of Friday's thwarted terrorist attack above the skies of Detroit, engineering firms like the like Smiths Group, the world's biggest producer of airport scanners, are poised to become even bigger players in the airport security marketplace. If so, Smiths may have to contend with bad press and criminal charges stemming from an alleged bribery scandal in Brazil involving Smiths's Sao Paulo subsidiary, Ebco Systems, which may have tried to rig a lucrative bid for a $107 million security scanner contract at Brazilian ports.
