Vinson & Elkins
Vinson & Elkins’s FCPA work in DC is overseen by four partners: Bill Lawler, Craig Margolis, Amy Riella and Tirzah Lollar. The team works with a wide variety of associates and counsel on FCPA matters.
Lawler is co-head of Vinson’s government investigations and white-collar practice group. A native of the US capital, he worked at the DC US Attorney’s Office from 1989 until he joined the firm in 1996. Margolis was at the US Attorney’s Office in Philadelphia from 1999 until 2004, while Riella and Lollar both came up through private practice.
Riella and Lollar work extensively with private equity clients on FCPA and international corruption issues regarding due diligence, compliance and deal structures. Lawler focuses on large chemical, manufacturing and energy companies, while Margolis and Lollar have clients in defence and logistics industries. Riella also works with large telecommunications companies.
In DC, FCPA and criminal antitrust are the two most significant practice areas in the Vinson white-collar group.
The firm was involved in representing oil services provider Global Industries, which secured a declination in 2010 from the SEC and DOJ after several years of investigation into alleged corruption at its West African operations.
