Steven Susswein is senior counsel at the SEC’s Foreign Corrupt Practices Act unit in Washington, DC.
Susswein studied at the University of Michigan, graduating in 1991. He earned his law degree from George Washington University in 1996, passing the Michigan bar in the same year. He passed the District of Columbia bar in 2001.
In 2012, he worked on an FCPA case against pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly. The company agreed to pay more than US$29 million to settle the SEC’s charges that its subsidiaries made improper payments to Russian, Brazilian, Chinese, and Polish government officials to win millions of dollars worth of business.
