GIR Connect Moscow: the future of corporate investigations in Russia

What’s next for Russian anti-corruption and white-collar enforcement will be top of the agenda at GIR Connect: Moscow on 16 September.

The half-day conference will be held virtually and is chaired by Lord Peter Goldsmith QC, the head of Debevoise & Plimpton’s European and Asian litigation practice, and Ilya Rybalkin, a Moscow-based founding partner of Rybalkin Gortsunyan & Partners.

Speakers on the day include Andrey Tsyganov, the deputy head at the Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service; Ekaterina Kobrin, the head of compliance and litigation at Yandex; Elena Zaikina, the head of ethics & compliance at Takeda; and Andrey Zakharov, senior legal manager & business counsel at GE Healthcare.

The first panel at GIR Connect: Moscow will focus on recent developments in Russia that have shifted the investigations landscape in the country. The panel will cover the country’s most active regulators, anti-money laundering developments and the best time to self-report to authorities.

A second session will cover the compliance and investigations challenges faced by in-house counsels in Russia. A panel of in-house counsels will share their experiences and tips for navigating the country’s financial regulations, compliance pitfalls and the best ways to protect employees during investigations.

In the third session, practitioners will share their views on EU and US sanctions and provide advice on conducting investigations in Russia. 

Rybalkin and Lord Goldsmith QC, who served as the UK Attorney General from 2001 to 2007, will deliver the closing remarks.

The conference starts at 2pm local time (12:00 BST) and will end at 5:45pm. (3:45pm BST).
