Valerie Tao is a professional support lawyer based in Hong Kong, who primarily supports the firm’s financial services regulatory (FSR) practice. Valerie is involved in producing FSR and financial crime thought leadership content via client briefings and seminars, legal guides, external publications and other business development campaigns, as well as managing know-how and coordinating and delivering internal training. She is a member of the Asia Securities Industry & Financial Markets Association (ASIFMA)’s Education Steering Committee and has been involved in ASIFMA’s education and training initiatives since July 2020.
Prior to commencing her role as a professional support lawyer, Valerie was a fee earner at a reputable international law firm in Hong Kong, specialising in regulatory and other contentious matters. This involved representing financial intermediaries and individuals in investigations conducted and proceedings brought by the Securities and Futures Commission and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. She also spent around two years on various legal secondments to the Hong Kong office of a UK-headquartered financial institution and a major telecommunications group.
