Utku Coşar is a partner at Coşar Avukatlık Bürosu. She acts as counsel in commercial and investment treaty arbitrations, with experience representing both state and private parties, and sits as an arbitrator. Utku is a member of the ICCA publications advisory board and serves on the editorial board of Dispute Resolution International, the journal of the dispute resolution section of the International Bar Association (IBA), as well as the editorial board of the ICC Dispute Resolution Journal. She is also a fellow at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). She is the author of multiple publications, including ‘Claims of Corruption in Investment Treaty Arbitration: Proof, Legal Consequences and Sanctions’ Legitimacy: Myths, Realities, Challenges’, in ICCA Congress Series No. 18, van den Berg (ed), published by Kluwer Law International (2015); ‘Annex ID to the Energy Charter Treaty: Limitation on Consent to International Arbitration’ in the Turkish Commercial Law Review, Vol. 1(1), February 2015, and the Turkey chapter of Freezing and Attaching Assets, (co-authored with Suat Sarı), edited by Jorgensen, published by Kluwer Law International (2016). She has also authored Turkey’s chapter in Privilege and Confidentiality: An International Handbook (IBA), International Mergers: The Antitrust Process (Sweet & Maxwell) and the IBA Arbitration Guide. A graduate of Marmara University Law School, Utku received two LLM degrees from Georgetown University Law Center. She is admitted to practise law in New York and Turkey.
For the past 13 years, Utku has been ranked in Band 1 for dispute resolution lawyers by Chambers Global and Chambers Europe and as a leading individual in dispute resolution by The Legal 500 EMEA.
