Ricardo Ma. P.G. Ongkiko

Senior Partner, SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan

Mr Ongkiko is a senior partner in SyCip Salazar Hernandez & Gatmaitan, the head of its litigation department, and a regular member of its Executive Committee. His practice areas include international and domestic arbitration, construction arbitration, mediation, civil and commercial litigation, corporation law and contract law.

Mr Ongkiko has handled and tried a broad range of cases involving contract disputes, corporate restructuring, debt recovery, infrastructure and engineering disputes, intra-corporate controversies, insurance cases and tort. He also has extensive experience in international and domestic arbitration dealing with commercial and construction disputes.

Mr Ongkiko is a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (East Asia Branch) and a member of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration. He is the current President of the Philippine Institute of Construction Arbitrators and Mediators, Inc (PICAM), and President Emeritus of the Philippine Institute of Arbitrators (PIArb).  He is also a Trustee and Assistant Corporate Secretary of the Philippine Dispute Resolution Center, Inc (PDRC). He is also a member of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre Users Council.

He is an accredited arbitrator of the PIArb, PDRC, the Construction Industry Arbitration Commission, the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines and the Philippine Wholesale Electricity Spot Market.  He is also an accredited arbitrator of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre, Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, Asian International Arbitration Centre, the Vienna International Arbitral Centre, the Korean Commercial Arbitration Board, the Dubai International Arbitration Centre, and the National Arbitration and Mediation (New York).
