MICHAEL DIXON is a partner in Blakes Litigation Group, where he focuses on criminal law, anti-corruption and commercial disputes. Michael regularly assists clients in complex multijurisdictional investigations. He also regularly provides advice on domestic and international anti-corruption laws, including advice on gifts and hospitality, client entertainment, travel and other business development practices. Michael was also co-counsel in the successful defence of a multinational company charged with bribery of government officials. Michael also assists clients with their anti-corruption compliance programs, including policy drafting and review, preparing contractual clauses with agents and JV partners, and due diligence during mergers & acquisitions. Michael has also acted as defence counsel in a variety of Criminal Code prosecutions, and acted in proceedings before the Provincial Court of Alberta and Court of Queen’s Bench, and a variety of regulatory bodies, including the Alberta Securities Commission. In 2014, Michael was recognized as a leading investigations specialist by Global Investigations Review's 40 Under 40. Prior to joining Blakes, Michael served as a law clerk to the Chief Justice and Justices of the Superior Court in Toronto. Michael is a member of both the Alberta and Ontario bars.
