María Teresa is senior associate at Ferrere. Her practice focuses on high-profile local and international disputes (commercial and investment), as well as International Arbitration and Administrative Law. She has represented clients in arbitrations under ICSID, UNCITRAL, ICC, CAM Santiago, Corte de Arbitraje Internacional para el Mercosur and CIAC. She has broad experience in construction cases, mining matters, joint ventures, international investment arbitration, local arbitration, civil and commercial agreements, and energy law. She was also part of Cristián Conejero’s team at Philippi Prietocarrisoza Ferrero Du & Uría. Prior to joining Ferrere, María Teresa Borja worked for the Attorney General’s Office in Ecuador where she was a member of the Republic of Ecuador’s defence team for a number of different arbitration proceedings, including the case of Chevron Corporation and Texaco Petroleum v.Ecuador (PCA Case No. 2009-23).
