Laura R Hall is a partner in the litigation group of Allen & Overy’s New York office. Laura’s cross-border litigation practice focuses on assisting clients in navigating the intersection of domestic and foreign legal regimes, particularly in financial services, technology and restructuring.Her experience in bankruptcy litigation includes representation of financial institutions, debtors, creditors and foreign representatives in state and federal courts at the trial and appellate level. Laura was a member of the Toronto-based trial team representing the Canadian Nortel Networks entities in a historic joint trial between the Delaware Bankruptcy Court and the Ontario Superior Court. Laura also advises clients in distressed asset sales and out-of-court restructurings.Laura’s wide-ranging experience in financial services and technology litigation and counselling includes responding to cybersecurity breaches, economic espionage and theft of trade secrets, defending corporations and financial institutions in securities and antitrust class actions and advising on compliance with foreign data privacy and bank secrecy laws in connection with US litigation.In 2004–2005, Laura was a law clerk for Judge Kenneth C MacKenzie in the New Jersey Chancery Court.Laura is a member of the Federal Bar Council’s Second Circuit Courts and Bankruptcy Litigation Committees, and represents pro bono clients in immigration and family matters through Allen & Overy’s partnership with Her Justice.
