Karyl Van Tassel is a senior managing director in the forensic investigations and dispute practice for BDO. She has over 30 years of experience providing dispute, investigative and forensic accounting services. She works with clients to address financial damages, forensic accounting, economic and valuation challenges they face in a wide variety of litigation and investigation matters. Her forensic accounting and investigatory experience has included Ponzi schemes, FCPA (compliance programmes, investigations and monitorships), financial statement fraud, kickback schemes, embezzlement, money laundering and other improprieties. She has testified in both domestic and international arbitrations, as well as state and federal courts in various jurisdictions. She has presented her findings to the Securities and Exchange Commission, Department of Justice, the IRS and other regulatory agencies. Prior to joining BDO, she was partner at two of the Big Four accounting firms and another global advisory firm. She obtained her degree in business administration with an emphasis in accounting from the University of Northern Colorado.
