Joel Fischer co-heads Bär & Karrer’s internal investigations practice group and is a leading partner of the financial services team.

He has extensive experience in assisting global corporations and highranking executives in large-scale internal investigations and complex whitecollar criminal and regulatory enforcement proceedings before Swiss and foreign authorities. His practice includes advising financial institutions, media conglomerates and construction companies, among others, on various compliance issues, including in relation to money laundering, sanctions, fraud, corruption, tax evasion, the implementation of compliance programmes and environmental, social and governance issues.

Before joining Bär & Karrer, Joel worked for the President of the Supreme Court of Israel and as a management consultant with a leading global consulting firm. He graduated from the University of Zurich and obtained a master’s degree in law and finance from the University of Oxford and a PhD from the University of Berne.

He is a member of the editorial board of the leading Swiss periodical on corporate and capital markets law (GesKR). Joel is listed as a Global Leader in investigations in Who’s Who Legal and won the Client Choice Award by Lexology in 2022 and the Rising Star of the Year award at the IFLR Europe Awards 2020.
