Jazquelyn Govender is a candidate legal practitioner currently being trained in the white-collar crime and investigations team of Pinsent Masons. She graduated with an LLB from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal in 2019, where she had received Deans’ Commendations for 2017 and 2018. She also obtained an LLM in intellectual property law from the University of Cape Town in 2020. She is based in the Johannesburg office of Pinsent Masons and works directly with Edward James, the corporate crime risk lead partner for Africa. Her experience includes working on internal investigations for clients in South Africa, representing a client in an investigation by the African Development Bank (and the negotiations in respect of the sanction to be imposed on the client), and advising a multinational oil company in respect of the compliance risks that arose during the proposed acquisition of oil and gas assets in an African country.
