Ellen Lake is a senior associate in Clifford Chance’s international investigations practice. Her practice covers investigations, crisis management, internal risk management and enforcement defence across multiple sectors, where she has more than a decade’s experience of advising in particular on financial crime, white-collar crime, compliance failings, internal investigations, whistleblowing reports, contentious regulatory and tech matters. She advises on a broad range of actions brought by UK authorities, as well as on complex cross-border investigations in multiple jurisdictions, particularly criminal and regulatory investigations and enforcement actions. Ellen works with a broad range of corporate and financial services clients and has completed a number of client secondments, including to a major bank where she ran an in-house legal team responding to a section 166 skilled-person investigation into financial crime failings.
