Doo-Sik Kim is a senior member of the firm’s international dispute resolution practice group. Also a former managing partner (2006–2013 and 2019-2021) of the firm, which now has more than 650 professionals, Mr Kim has more than 30 years of experience and has extensive experience representing clients in complex, high-value disputes related to cross-border investments, post-M&A issues, shipbuilding, construction and engineering, infrastructure, energy and projects, and military and defence procurement. 

Mr Kim has acted as counsel in numerous commercial arbitration cases under the rules of all the major arbitral institutions, including the ICC, KCAB, LCIA and UNCITRAL. Mr Kim is also a pioneer in Korea in investor-state dispute arbitrations under the ICSID rules. He regularly sits as arbitrator in international arbitrations under the KCAB and ICC rules and is vice president of the Korean Arbitrators Association. 

Mr Kim has received numerous accolades and has published widely on international arbitration-related topics, with recent publications of his appearing in GAR Know-How, Getting the Deal Through, Thomson Reuters, K-Build Journal and AAA Juris Journal.

A graduate of Seoul National University and member of the bars of Korea and New York, Mr Kim completed an LLM at University of Chicago Law School and was a visiting scholar at Columbia Law School. Mr Kim is a native Korean speaker and is fluent in English.
