David Sarratt is a partner in Debevoise’s litigation department and co-managing partner of the firm’s San Francisco office. He is a seasoned trial lawyer whose practice focuses on government enforcement actions, internal investigations and complex civil litigation for financial institutions and other clients. Mr Sarratt has particular experience in matters relating to compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and the FCPA, as well as with novel enforcement issues arising from new technologies.
Mr Sarratt has been recognised as a rising star by the New York Law Journal 2017, as a future star in Benchmark Litigation 2021 and as a next generation lawyer in The Legal 500 US 2018 for cyber law.
Before joining the firm, Mr Sarratt served as an Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of New York. As a federal prosecutor, Mr Sarratt supervised and participated in a wide variety of investigations and prosecutions, involving international terrorism, cybercrime, financial and healthcare fraud, racketeering and other crimes. He successfully tried numerous cases to verdict and briefed and argued appeals in the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
