Daniel Szirmak’s practice focuses on securities litigation, class actions, and complex commercial disputes. He has particular experience advising clients in the financial and professional services industries, including major banks and audit firms, in connection with civil proceedings and enforcement matters. He also has recent experience advising clients in the context of high profile contested plans of arrangement and proxy fights.
Daniel has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario in Ontario as well as the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC).
Prior to working at Blakes, Daniel spent a summer working at a U.S. law firm in New York, where he gained additional experience in securities class actions and enforcement proceedings. He also completed internships with the Supreme Court of the United States, the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration and the City of Toronto (as a prosecutor).
