Aryan is an associate at Trilegal and a part of the firm’s dispute resolution and investigations practice. He has advised and represented domestic and multinational clients before major courts and specialised tribunals across India. His practice focuses on disputes relating to general and cross-border commercial litigation, and white-collar crime defence matters.
He has regularly appeared before and has developed a thorough understanding of the functioning of a host of judicial forums in India, particularly the Supreme Court, Delhi High Court and appellate tribunals for company law, securities law and anti-money laundering law matters. Aryan has assembled a wide array of experience by routinely advising clients on commercial and civil matters such as contractual disputes, conflict of laws issues, tortious conduct by companies and/or its officials to white-collar crime defense matters concerning allegations of fraud, corruption, cheating and issues of bail, extradition, attachment proceedings, etc. Aryan is the lead junior associate in advising and representing a large multinational Korean head-quartered chemical company, its Indian subsidiary and their officials in relation to civil and criminal proceedings arising from an industrial accident that took place during the peak of the covid-19 pandemic. He has also worked closely with the senior management and in-house legal team of India’s largest conglomerate, one of the three biggest credit rating agencies in the world, and multiple domestic and multinational liquor companies.
Aryan is also experienced in handling investigations launched internally by companies based on whistle-blower complaints as well as investigations launched by regulatory or law enforcement agencies including the Central Bureau of Investigation, Serious Fraud Investigation Office, Directorate of Enforcement and the state police.
At his university, he was awarded the Sr. Barrister Deba Prasanna Mukherji Memorial Gold Medal in Competition Law and the VK Sanghi Memorial Gold Medal in Evidence Law. He was also awarded the Eric E. Bergsten Award for coaching the prevailing team in the championship round at the XXVII Willem C Vis Vienna International Commercial Arbitration Moot in 2020 and the Alona E. Evans Award for drafting the Best Memorial (Xth Place) at the 59th Philip C Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition (World Rounds) in 2018.
