Andrew Jacobson is an associate in Seward & Kissel’s litigation group and represents clients in connection with complex government investigations, regulatory probes and related civil matters. In addition, Andrew regularly advises on US economic sanctions, export controls, anti-boycott laws and regulatory issues relating to cryptocurrency and blockchain technology.
Prior to joining Seward & Kissel, Andrew served as an enforcement attorney at the New York State Department of Financial Services. In that capacity, he led and managed complex investigations into the banking and insurance industries, including some of the most significant enforcement actions for violations of US economic sanctions, resulting in hundreds of millions of dollars in monetary fines and widespread industry reforms. In addition, Andrew served as special counsel to the Moreland Commission, where he led investigations and public hearings into New York’s largest utility companies following Hurricane Sandy.
Andrew serves as chair of the Export Controls, Sanctions and Anti-Corruption Subcommittee of the International Bar Association’s International Commerce and Distribution Committee. He also serves on the BSA/AML and Enforcement Committees of the Virtual Commodity Association, and is a member of the Digital Chamber of Commerce’s AML Task Force.
