Andrés Jana Linetzky is a founding partner of Alvarez Hinzpeter Jana Abogados. He represents clients in high-stakes domestic commercial arbitrations and has been selected as lead counsel in numerous ICSID and ICC arbitrations. He coordinates several multi-jurisdictional litigations in Chile, the US, Holland, and England for private and public sector clients relating to mining projects, financial services, white-collar crime, and international commercial contracts. Mr Jana is also an expert on Chilean law before a LCIA tribunal. Among other projects, Mr Jana currently counsels the Ministry of Finance regarding investment and international dispute resolution. He has also advised several other governmental entities regarding economic matters, including the Foreign Investment Committee, the Ministry of Economy and the National Commission of Energy. He negotiated the Canada, Mexico, European Union and United States Free-Trade Agreements on behalf of the government of Chile. He also has advised other Latin American countries in matters related to free trade agreements in financial services and foreign investments issues. From 1996 to 1998 he served as the director of legal studies at Chile’s Central Bank. He worked as a foreign associate at Arnold & Porter from 1995 to 1996. A professor of Tort and Contract Law at the Universidad de Chile since 1997, Mr Jana is on the List of ICSID Arbitrators, a member of the Chilean Bar Association, the Legal Circle at Icare, and a member of the US-Chilean Chamber of Commerce. He obtained his LLM at Harvard Law School in 1995 after graduating summa cum laude from the Universidad de Chile in 1994. Mr Jana has published books and articles regarding private law matters and participated in several conferences and seminars regarding private law and international arbitration issues.
