Jonathan Kelly is a partner based in the London office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP. Mr Kelly’s practice focuses on substantial English and international investigations, commercial litigation and arbitration. He has significant experience advising on a wide range of matters involving banking and financial services, regulatory enforcement and anti-trust/ competition investigations.
Mr Kelly represents both corporates and individuals in investigations and enforcement activity involving various EU, US and UK regulatory authorities. He is particularly experienced in high-value and complex multi-jurisdictional matters. Mr Kelly is a noted specialist in banking and financial services disputes and regulatory investigations, and has been consistently named as a leading individual in the Investment Banking Litigation and Commercial Litigation sections of Chambers UK and The Legal 500. As well as advising across a broad range of contentious areas including banking, corporate, competition and private equity matters in the EU and the US, Mr Kelly has also advised on a range of disputes and investigations involving Russia, CIS and Middle Eastern states.
Mr Kelly joined Cleary Gottlieb as a partner in April 2010, after more than 23 years at Simmons and Simmons, where he trained and qualified as a solicitor in 1989, and became a partner in 1995. He was previously Head of the Financial Markets Litigation Group, and worked in both Hong Kong and London.
