Matthew Miner, a senior official at Main Justice's criminal division, and Robert Khuzami, the second-in-command at the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York, are slated to speak at GIR Live in New York on 27 September.
GIR Live New York will bring together distinguished enforcement officials, in-house counsel, and white-collar practitioners to discuss the latest trends in securities enforcement and investigations. The conference this year features a discussion of how to navigate a #MeToo investigation.
Chairs of the conference F Joseph Warin at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher and Bruce Yannett at Debevoise & Plimpton will kick off the conference, which takes place at 200 Park Avenue, New York.
The first keynote speech will feature the criminal division’s deputy assistant attorney general overseeing the fraud section Matthew Miner, who joined the department in February.
Following the keynote, a panel will discuss emerging trends in securities enforcement and prosecutions, such as the DOJ’s unsuccessful spoofing case against former UBS trader Andre Flotron. Two lawyers who worked on the case, assistant US attorney Jonathan Francis and Greenberg Traurig’s Marc Mukasey, are on the panel.
The second session will discuss how to navigate a #MeToo investigation, featuring a panel of experts with real world experience of handling such matters from the in-house, defence, and plaintiff perspectives. The speakers include Helen Cantwell at Debevoise & Plimpton, Amy Donehower at Sanford Heisler Sharp, and Glenn Pomerantz at BDO.
Rounding up the conference will be a second keynote speech from Robert Khuzami, the deputy US attorney for the US Attorney's Office for the Southern District of New York. Khuzami is currently overseeing the criminal investigation of President Donald Trump’s longtime personal lawyer Michael Cohen.
The event will run from 9am to 2:45pm. Details of the programme are available here.
