Ilias G Anagnostopoulos has appeared as lead counsel in the most significant criminal law cases in Greece during the past 25 years and is an associate professor of criminal law and criminal procedure at the School of Law, National University of Athens. He has extensive experience in most types of business crime, financial fraud, European criminal law, tax and customs fraud, health care fraud, medical malpractice, product criminal liability, environmental liability, company internal investigations and compliance, money laundering, corruption practices, anti-competitive practices and cartel offences, anti-terrorism, extradition, mutual assistance and surrender procedures.

His many publications in Greek, English and German deal with matters of Hellenic, European and international criminal law, business and financial crimes, reform of criminal procedure and human rights.

Ilias chairs the Hellenic Criminal Bar Association and is a member of the Criminal Law Experts Commission with the Ministry of Justice. From 2006 to 2013 he chaired the Criminal Law Committee of the Council of the Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE) and he is a founder member of the European Criminal Bar Association (ECBA); he is a member of Fraudnet – Commercial Crime Services Division, ICC.
